In this review, we’ll look at the R2S-1X10 from Rockford Fosgate, an in-car subwoofer system that can be added to any vehicle for a more powerful, thumping bass. We’ll examine both the advantages and drawbacks of this product against the average sub you can expect on the market, as well as the ideal person this model is suited to.
Rockford Fosgate's R2S-1X10 sub enclosure brings big bass to your car or truck, without sacrificing your available space. At around 5-1/4-inches deep, this enclosure was crafted with your average truck cab owner in mind. With medium-density fiberboard used in the design, and thick carpeting throughout, these units are also built to last. The dimensions come in at 34.29 x 48.26 x 13.34cm.
Who is This Product For?
As a heavy-duty product fully carpeted throughout, you’re going to have a hard time scratching the enclosure of this sub; this makes it perfect for trucks and other business vehicles in which it could be likely to take a lot of abuse. However, it is perhaps less suited to you if you’re looking for a powerful, thumping bass. Though it puts out a reasonable amount of power, better value for the money can be found with larger systems, which incidentally will provide more powerful bass, too.
This is a relatively straightforward package that comes with the essentials. Straight out of the box, you get a sealed enclosure that's pre-loaded with a single 10-inch woofer. Included with this system are 2 mounting brackets and associated screws for positioning the unit within your vehicle, whether that's in the trunk or within the cab of your truck. In case you get stuck, there are installation and operational instructions to refer to.
Overview of Features
As mentioned, the construction is predominantly medium-density fiberboard, covered with black heavy-duty carpet. This design lends itself for installation in even the most rugged of environments, with the truck user kept in mind. Plus, with a reasonably small footprint, you’ll be able to fit this unit within your truck or up front in your vehicle, without taking up too much real estate.
The sub enclosure comes pre-loaded with a single Prime R2SD4 10-inch subwoofer that can cope with around 200-watts RMS, with wiring for up to 2-ohm impedance. A polypropylene cone is featured with a poly-foam surround, resulting in accurate bass that reverberates throughout the vehicle.
Even the best sound systems using expensive aftermarket stereos can be improved upon through the use of a subwoofer. If you’re running a vehicle such a small truck, then this unit is perfect; the rugged design will be perfect for keeping it in good condition in even the roughest of conditions. However, its small footprint will hide the sub away in even smaller vehicles, without taking up all your space in the trunk.
